We all wanted to go into town this morning so everyone got ready and we left about 11:30 to go downtown.
Bill and I went off alone since we had already seen a few places yesterday. One of the most impressive things we saw was a wood carving of an old couple sitting on a park bench. The lady in the store told us it was all carved from a single piece of wood. The couple was celebrating their 65th Anniversary and their grandson worked on the piece for a year as a gift to them.
We met up with Paula and Jeff and made a quick stop at The Pie Safe. The shop is a cute little Victorian themed store selling pies, cakes, and specialty coffee and teas. The store is apparently pretty famous and has been featured in several magazines. I ordered an iced coffee before we left to go get lunch.
We drove down to the theater district and found Mel's Hard Luck Diner. It was almost 2 PM and we had plans for dinner before the Haygoods show so we just ordered a couple of appetizers. All of the waiters take turns singing throughout the day. They are all very talented and actually have to audition to get a job there. It was very entertaining and enjoyable.
After lunch we went back to the campground. Both Bill and Jeff took naps before we left for dinner. We left about 5:30 to go to the restaurant called Gettin' Basted. It is an award winning BBQ restaurant having won contests year after year and was named the best restaurant in Branson. Bill ordered a ham and cheese sandwich and said it's the best he has ever eaten.
The last thing on our agenda for the day was the Haygoods show. It is the number 1 top rated show in Branson and has been running for 34 years. The show features five brothers and one sister who are all extremely talented. Between them they play over 20 instruments and they all sing and dance. The show was excellent! A 5-Star "Must See" rating.
