We are in Tucumcari again today. We took the jeep and drove around town a little. Our first stop was at Tee Pee Curios. Bill and Jeff waited in the car while Paula and I went in to look around and take a few pictures.
The cashier told us the best restaurants in town were Del's Restaurant where we ate last night, La Cita, and Las Chapparitas. She said Las Chaparritas was the most authentic so we went there for lunch. The food was pretty good but the service was really slow. Bill ordered a beer and the waiter insisted on carding him to verify his age.
After lunch we drove through what is left of the town and took a few pictures of some of the many murals painted on buildings before returning to the campground for the rest of the day. Bill and I are anxious to get going towards Amarillo but we are here until tomorrow morning.
We had leftover Subway sandwiches for dinner then went to Paula and Jeff's motorhome to watch the Pixar "Cars" movie. Bill and I had never seen the movie and it is set along Route 66 so it was a good choice.
Tomorrow we will pass through Amarillo and probably have lunch at the Big Texan.
