We left Kingman and picked up Route 66 heading east. Our first stop was the Hackberry General Store. This is a very unique and interesting shop but it's more of a gift and souvenir shop than a general store. It was one of my favorite stops so far on this trip.
After leaving Hackberry we passed through Valentine and Truxton and entered the Hualapai Reservation in Peach Springs. We had lunch at the Diamond Creek Restaurant.
About 15 minutes down the road we came to the Grand Canyon Caverns. We went in to inquire about tours and found that there are a couple of options. A short 30 minute 1/4 mile tour for $21 per person and an extended 60 minute 3/4 mile tour for $27 per person. We just missed the short tour by five minutes and didn't want to wait around for 25 minutes and then add another 30 or 60 minutes to our stop there so we decided to skip the tour and move on.
We drove on into Seligman and chose to stay at the Route 66 General Store and RV Park. It is a no frills park but is very conveniently located and was only $32 for the night. We all got set up and Bill and I took a little walk. When we got back Paula asked if Bill could help Jeff repair the large dual shade in their motorhome. The guys got it repaired and we all visited for a while before we were ready for dinner.
My brother, Rick suggested that we go to Westside Lilo's for dinner rather than the Roadkill Cafe because the food is better and it is veterans owned. We followed his advice and found that the food was good and the servers were very friendly and attentive. When we finished our meals, we ordered dessert to go and walked across the street back to the RV park.
Tomorrow morning we will see a couple more places here in Seligman before heading on to Williams, AZ.
