Albuquerque

We got out a little late this morning and drove into Albuquerque.   We checked into the Enchanted Trails RV Park and after we got set up we headed down to Old Town.

Our first stop of the day was at the Dog House.  It is supposed to be an iconic place that has been there since the 1950s.  As the name would indicate they serve hot dogs, fries or tater tots, and drinks.  We ordered the foot long chili cheese dogs and an order of tater tots with chili and cheese.  The chili was a little spicy and they put very little chili on the hot dogs. Overall, we were very underwhelmed by the Dog House.  On the Moorhead rating scale we gave it a 1-star (unless you really love chili dogs and vintage drive-ins don't bother with this place.)

After we left the Dog House we drove into Old Town Albuquerque.  We looked in a few shops and went to the Rattlesnake Museum.  The Museum is small but really interesting.   I had no idea there were so many different varieties of rattlesnakes.  In addition to rattlesnake there were other types of snakes such as pythons plus lizards,  a Gila monster, and a few spiders. I stood and watched one snake for at least 15 minutes.   He could support his head and close to six inches of his body in mid air as it crawled around the enclosure. I would probably rate the Rattlesnake Museum as 3.5 to 4 stars.  (not a must see but worth the stop)

When we left Old Town we stopped at Walmart to do a little shopping before returning to the campground.   Bill and I weren't especially hungry so we had some left overs from the fridge and watched a little news on TV.  Paula invited us over for some cherry pie and ice cream so we had dessert and visited for an hour or more before turning in for the night.
